Ele, então, decide levar as crianças para sua casa. Foi jornalista e crítico de cinema, tendo se lançado no cinema em 1963, com um dos episódios de Le Baisiers. Publicou com Jean-Pierre Courdoson o livro 30 Ans de Cinéma Américain. Sua paixão pelo jazz rendeu-lhe dois filmes antológicos: Por Volta da Meia-noite e Mississippi Blues. Recebeu o Urso de Ouro no Festival de Berlim por A Isca em 1995. A leading figure in French cinema, Tavernier was born in Lyon in 1941. He was a journalist and film critic before launching his cinema career in 1963. Together with Jean-Pierre Courdoson, he published the book 30 Ans de Cinéma Américain. His passion for jazz has rendered him two outstanding films: Around Midnight and Mississippi Blues. He received the Golden Bear award at the Berlin Festival for L’Appat in 1995.
