Albert vende batata frita num quiosque que fica exatamente sobre a fronteira lingüística entre dois grupos belgas. Ao entregar as batatas a seus fregueses, ele é flamengo; ao fritá-las, é francófono. Cada pedido é acompanhado de um biscoitinho da sorte e os fregueses fazem longas filas, ansiosos por algum sinal do que o futuro lhes reserva. Mas, na manhã da véspera do novo milênio, Albert leva um choque ao ver que um muro divide sua loja ao meio.

Albert sells French fries in a kiosk which is located right on the language frontier between two Belgian groups. When delivering French fries to customers, he is Flemish; when frying them, he is Francophone. Each order is accompanied by a fortune cookie and customers queue up looking forward to knowing their future. But, on New Year’s Eve of the new millennium, Albert is shocked to find a wall dividing his shop in the middle.

ALAIN BERLINER

Belga nascido em 1963, estudou animação antes de se tornar roteirista e "reparador de roteiros". Minha Vida em Cor de Rosa, seu primeiro longa, foi selecionado para a prestigiosa Quinzena dos Realizadores do Festival de Cannes 1997 e conquistou o Globo de Ouro 1998 de Melhor Filme Estrangeiro, entre outros prêmios. Seu universo visual é uma estranha mistura de poesia e realismo, ternura e crueldade.

Born in Belgium in 1963, he studied animation before becoming a screenwriter and "screenplay mender". My Life in Pink, his first feature film, was selected for the prestigious Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes Festival 1997 and awarded with the 1998 Golden Globe for Best Foreign Film. His visual world comprises a strange mixture of poetry and realism, tenderness and cruelty.
