TSAI MING LIANG Malasiano nascido em 1957, estudou cinema e fixou-se em Formosa. Depois de Rebels of the Neon God (1992), ganhou o Leão de Ouro em Veneza 1994 com Vive l’Amour!, seu segundo filme. A este sucedeu-se O Rio, com o qual ganhou o Urso de Prata no Festival de Berlim 1997. Ganhou notoriedade com uma visão radical e intransigente da sociedade moderna, que é, ao mesmo tempo, assustadora e engraçada.
